Citizen’s Network For Budget Accountability has launched in march 2013, A network of civil society organizations, academia and NGOs working on the monitoring of Government Budget. Strengthening the participation of citizens, enforcing transparency & accountability and pointing out the loopholes in the budget making process.
With the support of National Endowment for Democracy (NED), Center for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) has been implementing the project on Budget Watch named “Strengthening Civil Society for Improved Accountability” since 2006. Until 2012 the project was being implemented only in three districts of the Punjab but this year CPDI has taken a gargantuan step to cover all thirty six districts of the Punjab.
The main objective of the project is to promote democratization by strengthening mechanisms of enhanced public participation in monitoring and accountability of use of public funds by public authorities. It aims to brace the participation of citizens in the budgetary process at all the levels of the Government. In this regard CPDI has formulated a network of different organizations from every district of the Punjab, known as the Citizens Network for Budget Accountability (CNBA).
